The bullet ant is a very dangerous species of ant that lives in the Amazon rainforest. This species of ant, scientifically known as paraponera clavata , was first introduced to the world in 1792 by zoologists. Grows to 18mm to 30 mm. Tribesmen peoples of the Amazon rainforest are frequently attacked by this ant. This ant is nicknamed "Bullet Ant" because it bites and hurts as much as a shot. The pain lasts for about twenty-four hours. Tribesmen living in the Amazon rainforest are reported to have built these anthills and laid their hands on them to test their leader's strength.
