Art, Caving and Sculpture from the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa periods..


 With the advent of Mahindha  Thera Art has been used  as a major  medium for the spread of Buddhist.

More formal classical paintings, cavings and sculptures are found  in religious and non- religious buldings. We do not see those  works of art as they are ,but the remnants of thise works bring us historical value.
Archaeological  evidence confirms many facts about the artistic elements of those periods.

Features of the classical  paintings , carvings and sculptures of the Anuradhapura  periods can be seen in  the works of art of the polonnaruwa periods.

Although there are some difrences  in the formatting  topic there are no significant differences in the techniques.
The paintings that can be seen in these periods are as follows.
If they are 
                #Sigiriya
                #Hindhagala
                #Thiwanka  image  House
Sigiriya  paintings  and Hindhagala paintings can be seen among the paintings  completed during the  Anuradhapura  periods.

And Polonnaruwa  period paintings  can be seen in the Thiwanka   image House.

The moon- stone occupies  a special place among the carvings .

Among can be seen the sculptures made during that the periods  are "Awkana"  statue, "Samadhi" statue and "Tholuwila" statue and "Shiva Parvathi", "Ganapathi" and "Nataraja" bronz statue.
